Mixpanel Product Analytics

Mixpanel is a product analytics platform. Its website calls it a product intelligence platform for the AI era. You send events that describe what users do in your product, and you get funnels, retention, session replay and experiments. Queries run on Mixpanel's own database, Arb. The free plan needs no credit card.

What Mixpanel offers

Plans and features are taken from the pricing and startup pages on the Mixpanel website, read on October 24, 2026. Event allowances and discounts change, so check the pricing page again before you sign up.

Who it is for

Mixpanel serves teams that need to understand user behavior:

  • Product managers and growth teams who want to see where users drop off and which features drive retention.
  • Engineering and data teams who send events through APIs or a warehouse and then run self-serve analysis.
  • Early-stage startups, for whom the free plan and the startup program lower the cost of starting.

Measure how many sign-ups a launch really brought, with Mixpanel

Mixpanel records behavior inside your own product. It cannot tell you how many people outside are talking about you; EveryInfra covers that half. The classic case is a launch: you go live on Product Hunt, people discuss you on Reddit and X, and you want to know which wave of discussion actually produced sign-ups.

  • From launch day on, pull Product Hunt comments and reviews, Reddit search results and comments and related posts on X through EveryInfra once an hour, and note new items and engagement.
  • Send each snapshot as one event, for example external_buzz, with platform and counts as properties, through Mixpanel's Import Events API. Each request takes up to 2,000 events and 10 MB; every event needs a name, time, distinct_id and $insert_id. Build $insert_id from platform plus timestamp, and Mixpanel deduplicates retries.
  • In Mixpanel, chart external_buzz and your sign_up event on one hourly trend line. You can see whether sign-ups rose after that one Reddit thread took off.
  • After launch week, drop the polling to once a day to follow the long tail.

In an hour with no new comments or posts, the EveryInfra request comes back empty and is not charged.

Getting started with Mixpanel

The Mixpanel Free plan needs no credit card and has enough events for a launch review. Companies under five years old, with no more than $8M raised and no other discount used, can apply to the startup program. Sign-up and terms are governed by the Mixpanel website; this page is compiled from its public pages.
